I love this! the pandemic has made me really rethink my goal setting, and I'm kind of in limbo with my living situation rn, so its helpful to just let things happen as they happen
The pandemic definitely made me rethink a lot of my life decisions too. Good luck with the shifting living situation -- hope you find you love where you end up :)
I hear you on the goals, Siel. It's the alpha personality, or at least they used to call it that. I only got a little better with yoga and meditation. I don't have goals there besides doing it almost every day. I don't expect to reach nirvana in meditation and yoga is just for staying flexible and pain free ( no head stands for me).
Society pressures us all into this higher-faster-further mindset. Resist! You're doing it right.
Siel, I use wooden mannequins as patrons for the summer months. Have just finished building a slightly bigger gallery for my artist group in town. It will travel with the art shows.
I'm with you on goals. Even the things I've accomplished (get a degree, advance in my job, organize my pantry) have seemed more like solutions to problems than goals per se. Goals strike me as driven by desire for what we don't have. I am mainly motivated to restore or maintain happiness. Maybe I'm just complacent. Hopefully not smug.
Have you read *Theophilus North*? That is everything I know about Newport ;-)
It's a pleasant summertime read -- I think that's my answer (esp. since I haven't read it in 30 years). I think it takes place in the 1920s, so it's a historical take on Newport affluence, through the lens of a personable young man with no money. I remember enjoying it, and boggling at the depiction of wealth.

Gabriele! Great to hear from you -- How is the little free art gallery?! Were you able to find non-melty human figures?

I have not read Theophilus North -- Do you recommend it?!

Sounds interesting -- adding it to my TBR!
